03 / THE SPENDING FILES

Show us the receipts.

Grants. Contracts. Cost blowouts. Official scrutiny. Put a controversial spending decision under a microscope, rather than just calling it a scandal.

A question mark is not a guilty verdict. These are verified grant awards published under the Albanese government, within programs operating since May 2022. They are examples of policy areas people may consider discretionary, not findings of fraud, waste or wrongdoing. The original records are one click away. Some awards span several years; they are not added to September 2026 expenses. Foreign assistance is listed separately below, using different accounting and reporting measures.

ADDITIONAL RECORDS / FOREIGN ASSISTANCE

Overseas aid. Same public money. A different set of receipts.

Explore humanitarian commitments and official development-assistance allocations for Afghanistan, Gaza, Ukraine and the Pacific. These are not GrantConnect awards: some are country budgets, others are multi-year or one-off commitments. We deliberately do not add them to the grant total.

Can Australia benefit? A direct, easily measured financial return is not the only possible benefit. DFAT identifies regional stability, disaster preparedness, diplomacy and national security as reasons for some overseas assistance. Whether those benefits justify the cost is a policy question; absence of benefit cannot be established from the allocation alone.
